Dr. Richard Craven

Dr. Richard (Ricky) Craven grew up in Bolivar, Ohio, where Ricky was valedictorian and a 4-year letterman in football and wrestling.  After high school, he went on to complete his BS in Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Dr. Craven attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, graduating with his DMD in 2015.  He was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for each year he attended.  After completing a GPR residency at the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System  and spending several years in general practice, Dr. Craven returned to the University of Pittsburgh to complete his Specialty Certificate in Endodontics in 2021.

Dr. Craven is a compassionate care provider, working to repair damage caused by sporting events, helping special needs patients and military staff, and providing the best care for all patients.  Dr. Craven has previously worked serving military members for readiness exams, and worked in college as a nurse’s aide in the UPMC healthcare system.

Dr. Craven is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and a previous member of the Pennsylvania Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Craven currently works as a part-time clinical instructor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in the Endodontics Department, and volunteers for the Mission of Mercy dental service whenever possible.

In his free time, Dr. Craven enjoys spending time with his long-time girlfriend, Nam, going to live music shows, playing guitar, traveling, cooking, and gardening. He is also an avid Steelers and UFC fan (and tragically, a loyal Pittsburgh Pirates fan).
